Passive House | Geodome
This unique weekend escape in rural Sonoma County came to Framestudio in 2016 as a commission for the remodel of a self-built geodesic dome from the mid-1980s. In the fall of 2017, soon after demolition had begun, the Tubbs fire swept through, destroying everything in its path. Undaunted, our client immediately looked forward to rebuilding.
For the rebuild, Framestudio collaborated with a talented team of builders, structural and civil engineers, landscape architects, and European window manufacturers as well as energy, waterproofing, greywater, and solar energy consultants.
This cutting-edge, fully sustainable, off-the-grid, fire-resistant home, is to be built to Passivhaus standards.
The home received planning and permitting permission in the spring of 2019 with construction starting shortly after.
